What NOT to EatAny food that causes insulin spikes, rebound stress, and inflammation is a major cause of your problems and needs to be avoided or dramatically reduced. Foods that cannot be “bio-transformed” into the molecules that sustain life will, to be blunt, promote death. Practically speaking, the types of food that cause the most problems in today’s world are what we call “bad carbohydrates” and “bad fats and oils.” Bad carbohydrates are the reason for insulin spikes and the major cause of rebound stress. Bad CarbohydratesAt the root of the most powerful disease causing process in modern society is the insane over consumption of refined sugars, starches and grains. Collectively we call them bad carbohydrates. The danger of these bad carbohydrates comes from the fact that they are “socially acceptable.” In fact, you “reward” yourself with the very thing that causes more metabolic destruction than anything on earth. Every time you eat white sugar, white flour, white bread, white rice, soda pop, fruit juice, high fructose corn syrup, cakes, candies, doughnuts, pies, pastries, honey, molasses, syrup…you get the idea, you disrupt the most powerful hormones in your body, the hormones of metabolism. Since fats and oils are so important to optimal health then the last thing you want is to ruin their ability to keep you healthy. However, that’s exactly what the food industry has done. These vital nutrients have been refined, over-heated, denatured, de-odorized and loaded with chemical preservatives. Breakfast is very importantBut probably not for the reasons you think. You cannot start your day with an insulin spike or you will be a metabolic wreck and a fat storing machine until the next day! Breakfast is no different than any other meal, you need protein, fat and carbohydrate. You have to rethink the cultural conditioning associated with breakfast. If you are eating cereal, bagels, juice, pop tarts, doughnuts or any refined, starchy, sugary mess in the morning you are killing yourself! If you have a cup or more of coffee and eat nothing you are killing yourself even faster. You absolutely must start your day with the right mixture of protein, fat and carbohydrate so you set the stage for the next 24 hours in front of you. You don’t have to eat a lot because some people are just not hungry in the morning. But you have to establish a habit of getting quality food in your body before you start your day full on.
